Haaros

Rabbi Yaakov Bernstein's weekly insights, on the Torah portion and the months of the Jewish calendar

Mikra

P'shuto shel Mikra is a weekly shiur with the aim of exploring one of the central themes of that week's Parasha from a specifically textual perspective. This shiur aims to analyze a difficulty in the Parashah and, through that analysis, to exp lore some broader themes throughout the Torah. Although the focus of the shiur is on the actual text and does not "build" on Midrashic or medieval commentaries, the direction and approach of the shiur are traditional and utilize explanations and comments of the Midrash and Rishonim -notably Ramban and S'forno.

Halacha - Law

Weekly-Halacha

This weekly halachic anthology explores one selected Halachic topic related to the Parsha. The class aims to familiarize the general public with various Halachic situations which are relevant to our everyday life. This compilation presents short, clear Halachic decisions based on the Mishnah Berurah and other contemporary Poskim. In a few sho rt minutes, the reader can acquaint himself with many details about the chosen topic, which he then can present to his Rav for his final Psak.
Business-Halacha
The purpose of this class is to acquaint readers with everyday Business-Halacha [Choshen Mishpat] situations that can arise at any time and the concepts that a Rabbi may use to address them. These classes are on an advanced level and will pre sume familiarity with basic halachic concepts, such as sofek, chazakah, etc... Although the bottom line halachic p'sak (ruling) is stated, the intention is not to be the final say, rather to provide food for thought, and whenever possible, a competent Ra bbi should be consulted. Each individual situation must be resolved by an objective, competent Rabbinic Court or Rabbinic Arbitrator, based on all the specific variables and accepted customs, in the presence of all parties involved!
