I have heard many different things about religious Jews celebrating
Thanksgiving. Some say you should as part of Minhag America (custom of
America) and some say you should not because of Chukos Hagoyim - following
the ways of the Goyim and also because everyday should be thanksgiving.
The second reason does not really make sense because we in Judaism also
celebrate many Holidays on specific days even though we really should say
thank you every day.
Not only that, but our Sages tell us "He who says Hallel (paragraphs of
specific praise of God designated for holidays) everyday is blasphemous".
Does this not mean we should only say it on specific days and not everyday?
What is the consensus out in CyberVille about celebrating Thanksgiving?
