Recently my beloved male dog, Yom, died after drowning in the swimming
pool while we were sleeping. He never, ever came close to the pool, and
he was a strong and young Pitt Bull (never mind what bad things other
people may say about this breed: they are as sweet as any other well
treated and loved dogs). I am desolate, and I try to find answers: why?
But, most of all, about his "soul" (I don't know what name to give). How
does the Kabbalah and the sages explain their afterlife? How are animals
souls dealt with in Judaism?

Please, help me to understand.
