Here's another thought. Consider the following statements: (1) There are
600,000 letters in the Torah. (2) There is a single letter somewhere
which is considered to be in the exact middle of the Torah. (3) 600,000
is an even number.
There is quite obviously something here which is not meant to be taken
at face value.
