Probably the best English source is Leonard Oschry's translation of the
Chafetz Chaim's sefer Ahavas Chesed (printed by Feldheim). In section 3
chapter 3 the Chafetz Chaim discusses the mitzva of bikur cholim in full.

You might also want to check out a translated Kitzur Shulchan Aruch
section 193.
