Tzedakah (charity) Organizations

I know this may not be a halacha question, but you might be able to point
me in the right direction. I get many solicitations for tzedakah in the
mail. I have heard that some of these "organizations" are really scams. Is
there someone I can ask who knows which of these are for real? Please let
me know.
