G-d Forbid

I would like to pose a question. I've heard the phrase "Chas VeShalom" and
"Chas VeChalila" to mean "G-d Forbid" but, what do those to phrases
actually mean and how do they relate to "G-d Forbid?" I don't see how
those two phrases could translate into "G-d Forbid." If anyone has any
idea or understanding of this, I would immensely appreciate your answer.
