I will be the first to admit that I too am not a Torah Scholar. I am just a
mother and a school teacher. Not that I am putting that down either. I
consider both of my jobs extremely important.

I have just begun my study of torah with a small chabad group in my area so
I understand the position from which you speak.

As a mother of two sons, (who was hysterical during both brits,) I
absolutely agree with your points. I myself could never see me or my
husband have to make a decision like Abraham.

Sometimes, though, in the Bible, whether or not we believe things to have
meaning or be true, we have to just take it at face value. I think more
important than the actual events of the story, was Abraham's trust in the
Almighty. You either have that trust or you don't.

I hope I have not insulted anyone.
