I agree with the posters who couldn't do as did Abraham, who wouldn't be
willing to sacrifce their children. Many of us would sacrifice our own
lives for G-d, or for our children, but couldn't slay our children. Perhaps
in the time of open miracles people were "greater" than our generation; the
Bibical figures are "gadolim' [great people] after all. Perhaps we just
can't meet this challange, can't rise to this level. Perhaps that's why we
aren't asked to.
