If I understand the laws of kashrut correctly, it is not only forbidden to
eat the non-kosher animals, but it is also forbidden to touch their dead
carcasses.
During a recent trip to a pet store, I found that most types of fish food
(and all food intended for juvenile fish) contained some sort of non-kosher
materials - most commonly in the form of dried shrimp (or related
crustaceans). It is practically impossible to avoid all physical contact
with fish food when feeding the fish.
Does the prohibition of contact with non-kosher flesh apply in this case?
Also, some fish foods contained fish - often of unspecified variety. Even
if the fish contained is scaled, it is safe to assume that it is not kosher.
Is handling such material permissible?
