There is no such prohibition. Touching certain types of dead
non-kosher animals (or, for that matter, kosher animals who have not
been slaughtered properly) renders a person tamei (ritually unclean)
which has implications in the time of the Temple when entry to the
Temple area or eating of sacrificial food when one is tamei was
forbidden. There is no such implications today and you may touch the
pet food.
