According to the TaNa"Ch, Satan is an angel, just like all the other angels.
As such, he has no power other than the power given to him by G-d. As opposed
to Christianity, which believes Satan is a force independant of G-d. This is
apparent in the beginning of the book of Job, when Satan needs to ask
permission from G-d to harm Job, and until he gets G-d's say-so, he is
powerless to do anything.
