Jewish History: Biblical History: The Date of the Flood:

When did the Great Flood happen?

The Great Flood happened when Noah was 600 (Gen.7:11). According to the chronology in Gen.Ch.5, Noah was born in the year 1056 after the Creation, so the flood took place in the year 1656 -- about 4100 years ago. The Flood began on the 17th day of the second month. According to tradition, the month was Cheshvan, which means that in those days the first month was Tishrei. Nisan became the first month at the time of the Exodus (Ex.12:2).
