Jewish History: Biblical History: The Prophecy of Lemech:

What did Lamech, Noah's father, prophesy at Noah's birth?

According to tradition, Noah made major contributions to agriculture (see Gen. 9:20), so that raising food was no longer such a tedious task (compare Gen. 3:17-19 and Gen. 5:29); at his birth, his father prophesied that he would do this. G-d's promise (after the flood) to no longer curse the ground because of man (in Gen. 8:21-22) may refer to this too, but the primary promise in that verse is not to destroy the world with another flood or change the natural order of things; this promise is repeated in Gen. 9:11ff.
