Jewish History: Biblical History: Esau's Wives:

Why did Esau marry Ishmael's dauthter?

Esau realized (Gen.28:6-9) that Abraham's descendants were not supposed to marry Canaanites, so he (belatedly) married Ishmael's daughter. This was a step in the right direction, since she was Abraham's granddaughter. But she also had Egyptian blood (Gen.16:1,3), and the Egyptians are related to the Canaanites (Gen.10:6).
