Jewish History: Biblical History: The Moabite Stone:

What is the Moabite Stone?

It is a monument erected by Mesha, king of Moab, around 850 BCE. The inscription on it tells how Omri and his son (Ahab), kings of Israel, subjugated Moab, but Mesha revolted and Moab became independent again; this is consistent with the story in 2 Kings 1:1 and Ch.3. The Stone was found in 1868 on the site of Divon, Mesha's capital city; it is now in the Louvre museum. For more information, see the articles "Mesha" and "Mesha Stele" in the Encyclopedia Judaica, Vol.11, cols. 1397-1399.
