Jewish History: Biblical History: The 1290 Days in Daniel:
What is the meaning of the "1290 days" in Daniel 12:11?
The Jewish commentators differ widely about Daniel 12:11.
Some say "days" means "years" (the word "yamim" sometimes
means "a year" in the Bible), others take it literally (as
1290 days, i.e. about 3-1/2 years), and others point out
that 1290 is the number of public sacrifices that were
offered each year. In any case, Daniel doesn't say what
will happen 1290 days or years after the daily sacrifices
stop (which was shortly before the Temple was destroyed);
he only tells us to wait and see, and hope for the best.
