I am proud to say that my son goes to Darchei Torah (although he was not part of the above team,)and that in many small ways stories like this one happen in the yeshiva every day. The boys learn to interact with all kinds of boys at various levels of health; my son has a blind boy in his class that has taught him character traits that no book ever could; and so the learning is not only another gemorah class. Rabbi Bender is undoubtedly one of the tzaddikim we could all emulate; he does many mitzvos 'on the quiet' too. - T. T. -0/5-/2001

This is a wonderful and inspiring story. Being the father of a 5 year old girl with Down Syndrome who was turned away by 2 yeshivas because she was not "perfect" really tells me that there is hope. This article should be sent to all Rosh Yeshivas and the boards that run the yeshivot - they could learn alot from these 18 children. - D. M. -0/5-/2001

Well done! You moved me to tears with your beautiful story. Aren't children almost always a surprise beyond wonder to we adults...? - F. N. -0/5-/2001
