Try using tofu, dried tofu in a cholent, or TVP (textured vegetable protein). Most people ask if I put veal in my spaghetti sauce and lasagna but it is TVP. Enjoy! - S. H. -0/9-/2001 |

We, a family of reform jews, are making the same journey, just differently. For a year and a half we have had a totally kosher home. We switched at pesach. We however have not made the change to totally non kosher outside the home. we still eat traif, but are continuing to work at it. your story is inspiring -0/8-/2001 |

Yasher Koach to the Gilbert family!!!! I too went completely kosher a year ago and recognized in the Gilbert experience much of my own step by step process. You are the implementation of what Isaiah said in last week's Haftarah (which I sang again in synagogue--it was the repeat of my BatMitzvah Haftarah Nahamu--even though people come and go if they preseve the commandments of G-d so that their children will observe them they wil have true immortality. If you want to write to me at gaster@torahmail.com I even have a kosher diet plan--Weight Watchers "kashered". Good luck in ALL your religious endeavors. I even have a vegetarian kosher pizza recipe you wont be left out any more!!!!!! - c. g. -0/8-/2001 |

Excellent article. The process for someone to change over was very realistic plan. Wish more people would keep kosher and that there were more KOSHER restaurants around. - Y. S. -0/8-/2001 |

While we have not converted completely to a Kosher Diet. We have been following a slow gradual path similar to your own. My daughters have been an inspiration to us as well. They are very quick to tell every one that they only eat Kosher food. For my middle daughter it brings on a great since of pride of being Jewish. After reading your article I guess it's time for another little step. Maybe a really special Pesach is in order. -0/8-/2001 |

Its important to develop a relationship with a Rabbi one can ask kashrut questions of if one makes mistakes or is unsure. Most mistakes can be kashered without having to throw items away, as the article suggests. Keeping kosher is expensive enough! - L. C. -0/8-/2001 |
