Two points. Your use of the word "airbrush" in connection with what appears to be a quote from Lincoln is startling. There was, of course, no such word when he was our leader.
Second, because it was a Lincoln proclamation that established Thanksgiving, some Southerners refused to observe it because it, davka, came from him. - M. R. -0/2-/2002
